C.T. has utilized his engineering expertise on numerous municipal projects including long range planning and development studies for municipal infrastructure. He has completed Design Development Projects for the Town of Lillington, the Town of Erwin and the Town of Princeton. Mr. Clayton has recently completed projects in Carteret, Craven, Harnett, Johnston, Lenoir, Wake, and Pamlico Counties obtaining water, sewer, erosion control and storm drainage permits. As a civil engineer, C.T. has recently focused his efforts on developing expertise in the area of solid waste management. Having performed numerous solid waste studies, he is extremely familiar with the environmental issues and operational obstacles that are involved in maintaining a proper solid waste disposal system. The majority of C.T.'s project experience involves the siting, planning, design, construction, and closure of landfills; planning, design and construction supervision of water supply and distribution facilities; wastewater collection and treatment facilities; sewer collection system rehabilitation, storm drainage facilities; street improvements, recreational facilities, solid waste and recycling facilities, and preparation of water and wastewater operation and maintenance manuals. As an employee of the old North Carolina State Board of Health, C.T. was a Sanitary Engineer Technician prior to obtaining his engineering degree. In that position he was located in the Asheville Regional Office and covered 32 counties in the western region for three years. He became very familiar with the units of government in that area of the state. With the addition of C. Tyrus Clayton, Jr., P. E. to the staff of C. T. Clayton, Sr., P. E., Inc., in January 2005, project experience and expertise is brought in the fields of Solid Waste Construction Quality Control and Quality Assurance, Geotechnical Engineering, and Groundwater Hydrology. Tyrus completed a Master of Science Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering that was focused on groundwater hydrology, contamination, and remediation. Since that time, Tyrus was recently a senior project manager and branch office manager for a large consulting firm. While working there, Tyrus oversaw the construction or closures of over 20 MSW and C&D landfills in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, and Georgia as the QC or QA Engineer. He was responsible in insuring that each landfill was constructed to meet individual permit and project requirements. In addition, Tyrus’s project experience involves the siting, planning, design, construction, and closure of landfills; planning, design, permitting and construction supervision of wastewater collection and treatment facilities, solid waste transfer and recycling facilities, educational facilities and buildings, and commercial and residential subdivisions; stormwater management design and permitting; geotechnical investigations and reporting for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, as well as solid waste landfill soil sources and sites.
